Hashimoto Industry believes that the grindstone process is the most important process in mirror surface polishing.

Good quality grinding can be seen consistently down to the last fragment. We have succeeded in overcoming what appears to be a simple requirement but is actually very difficult to achieve. The grindstone must produce little scoring and be neither too hard nor too soft. We were unsatisfied with the finish produced by commercially available grindstones and came up with our own product, packed with the know-how we have built up over many years. This is the Hashimoto original grindstone.
